I’m excited to announce that the writing front of Mike The Marine (Story Renegade) is now on Substack!
Going forward, there will be a clear distinction between what gets published on my website and what will be shared on Substack to keep everything organized and easy to follow.
What's on the Site Blog (Mike The Marine)?
This serves as a curated hub for a peak behind my camera and quill.
🗂️ Blog Content:
Exclusive Updates – Project milestones, sneak peeks.
Behind the Scenes – Devlogs and production notes. Insights from the creative front lines.
Creative Process – Voiceover chains, editing workflows, plugin setups, and cinematic tools.
Content Vault – Downloadable scripts, posters, lore content, and media extras.
Writing Process & Conlang – the art of storytelling and custom language work.
Other - seldom content that may be outside the realm of the other categories.
If you are looking for the gateway into the mind of a storyteller, this is it.
What I have done (and still do) is learn as I go. I've learned everything I've done by doing. I've faced many uphill challenges trying to figure so much out on the run.
Starting from scratch, working with actors, templating production, directing scenes, audio recording, video editing, visual effects, sound mixing, mastering, scriptwriting, worldbuilding, conlanging, etc...
Each of these domains are areas in which I share a part of my life, spending hours, days, weeks, and months, trying to become better in order to pass that longed-for finish line of a project.
Growing up, I thought one day all the answers would eventually self-materialize. Well, the magical moments of adulthood came and wenta and nothing melodramatic happened. Life actually got harder. And in the land of 'making something happen' it never works out like a childhood fantasy. Unless you are .000000001 percent of the population. Godspeed with those odds.
Back to average reality. Each new project I've embarked on has always felt as if I'd never done a project before, bringing with it all new challenges, hurdles, and frustrations. But that's also what makes it all exciting, unique, and rewarding. What you read in the blog may not be the educated answer of a seasoned USC alumni directing on the backlot of Warner Bros in Burbank, but it was more than likely a trail-blazed method that worked for me in the moment I needed something...or anything to work.
And if that came from a book? Great.
And if not? Well...I'll tell my assistants to immediately start writing one.
(Relax, it was a joke.)
📝 What’s on Substack (Story Renegade)?
Substack will be the primary hub for my stories.
📚 Substack Stuff:
Serial Sagas – Ongoing narrative arcs like Tales of the Sith and beyond.
Short Stories & Poetry – Standalone fiction and lyrical explorations.
Worldbuilding Features – Expansive lore, character studies, and mythic histories.
Exclusive First Looks – New chapters, concepts, and creative drops sent directly to subscribers.
If you are a reader who wants immersive stories, poetic worlds, and a front-row seat to ongoing narrative development?
Let serendipity plague you no more!
Story Renegade is ready and ripe for reading.
Why the Split?
This setup keeps Mike the Marine focused on creation, process, and production, while Substack remains the heartbeat of storytelling and serialized delivery.
Think of this site as the studio floor — and Substack as the stage.
New stories are in development. You’re invited to both sides of the curtain.
If you want to jump right in, consider reading one of my Fantasy Short Stories...
...or a Gothic Poem with The City By The Sea: Mystery of Magisterium's Constable.
